Abstract:
In this paper we present an analysis of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) dataset from a Brisbane Hospital. In this case study particular we look at the admission, treatment and outcomes of the aged patients which were admitted to the unit. To perform this analysis, we use the Health Data Integration (HDI) software product being developed at the e-Health Research Centre. HDI provides linking query and analysis functionality. With the linking ability of HDI, this data could be integrated with other data sets to perform more analysis of the patient records to give, for instance, further information about mortality once the patient has left the ICU. Tools of this nature will continue to be important in a HealthConnect environment as they link across specialized and independent data sources.
