The health data and information group at the Australian e-Health Research centre is working with
clinicians in Queensland, and across Australia through the CSIRO Preventative Health Flagship, to
use advanced statistical methods to capture knowledge from clinical data.
For example, the images below are using the same data but are asking different questions. The top figure is a dendrogram grouping patients in like clusters based on their attributes. Labelling patients based on their status can show us those patients that group together (e.g. those that died from CRC). The bottom figure is an example of classification trees, useful for detecting important variables, interactions and outliers in exploratory data analysis.
