Antti Sarela

Project Leader, Care Assessment Platform (CAP)

Antti Sarela was born in Finland and migrated to Australia in 2006. Before joining CSIRO he was the Chief Engineer at International Security Technology (IST), a technology start-up firm in Finland. IST develops and manufactures novel security and activity monitoring system (Vivago) for elderly care. Today there are more than 10000 users of the Vivago system in Europe. In 1993-2000 he worked for Instrumentarium, Datex-Ohmeda division that is today part of GE Healthcare and a leading provider of anaesthesia delivery and critical care monitoring solutions. He designed embedded software for an anaesthesia workstation, and later held several project and large scale Research & Development program management positions. These projects developed new physiological measurements and monitoring devices for anaesthesia and critical care. He holds several patents related to medical devices. He has a Masters degree from Helsinki University of Technology, majoring in Medical Technology and Biophysics.
